Nurturing Relationships

Developing and nurturing meaningful relationships is one of the most important things we do at Meeting Street. Strong relationships lead to better understanding and ultimately better outcomes for everyone – the child, the parents, the family and the Meeting Street staff.

At Meeting Street we partner with every family to provide the services and supports that make sense for each unique situation. The compassionate staff at Meeting Street embrace the individuality of everyone we serve, taking into account their likes, dislikes, fears, and dreams. We listen and address the family's concerns and desires when developing educational, developmental and therapeutic goals for each child or student.

We provide opportunities for all the children and young adults we serve to develop meaningful relationships with their peers of all abilities and to interact with individuals from throughout the community. We develop relationships with a child’s school system and doctors so all those involved in the child’s developmental and educational needs get the information they need.

Through daily classroom activities, field trips, and community service projects in our Bright Futures Early Learning Center and The Grace School and The Carter School, our goal is to help every individual and family expand their horizons and form relationships with others that foster greater knowledge and understanding.

By bringing individualized services and supports to families in their homes or in community childcare centers through Early Intervention and The Children's Network, we help families and children pursue their goals as part of daily activities, building upon existing relationships and support networks in the neighborhood and community to help each child achieve his or her maximum potential.

The success of our efforts can be measured through the smiles and laughter of the children and young adults we serve, and through what is perhaps the ultimate testimony – the introduction of a peer or a staff member by a child to their parents as simply "my friend."
