The Meeting Street Experience

There’s a sense of joy at Meeting Street — a feeling of openness and optimism. It’s reflected on the excited, happy faces of the children the minute the school bus arrives. It’s in the light-filled rooms with high ceilings and bright colors. Everything is so welcoming. All children, including visually impaired ones, feel comfortable exploring. And there are the ramps; yes ramps — not elevators or stairs. The adults wish they could have as much fun as the kids on those ramps.

You expect to see facilities like this at an exclusive prep school, but this is even better because all the recreational facilities — the huge gymnasium, indoor therapeutic swimming pool, playing field and playground — are accessible to every child. This is a place where a child facing challenges can communicate to his peer, "I am a kid just like you."

At the end of the day, we measure progress by how happy the kids are and how much they are achieving educationally, developmentally, and social-emotionally. Happy kids learn more and grow more. Of course things aren’t always easy and at times they may seem very difficult, but they don’t have to be impossible. Every parent has dreams for their children.
