Sharing Places

At Meeting Street, we recognize the importance of providing support and services in places and in ways that fit into the natural routines of family and community life. All of our programs are designed so children can experience and enjoy their lives wherever they are regardless of their special need.

Experts in our Meeting Street Early Intervention program provide services in each child’s home so sessions can be scheduled that are convenient for the family and fit into the child’s routine. Toddlers and pre-k kids in our Bright Futures Learning Center and students in The Grace School benefit from our inclusive classrooms where kids of all needs learn and play together. As children get older and enter our high school, The Carter School, they learn essential life skills so they can live more independently in the community. Carter School students receive vocational training by going to work sites and working side by side their typically developing peers.

As children of all abilities and needs share places and participate in activities in our facilities and in their communities, everyone benefits. Children, young adults and their families make greater progress toward their goals and the community gains a better understanding of the potential of all types of children through the shared experiences.

The classes are small at The Grace School with a maximum 15 students. This insures a very low staff-to-student ratio that is usually 1:5 in each classroom.
