The Aaron Michael Resnick Endowment Fund for Early Intervention
Aaron Michael Resnick's birth, in December 1988, was marred by birth injury. Not expected to live through the night, Aaron proved to be a fighter. Aaron's struggle in life ended a short thirteen months later, when he succumbed to that injury. Aaron is fondly remembered by the staff of Meeting Street's Early Intervention Program.
Aaron's parents, Kathleen and George, established The Aaron Michael Resnick Endowment Fund for Early Intervention as a loving tribute to their son. The fund is dedicated to serve children from birth through age 3 that need assistive devices and toy adaptations for which there is no funding. Some examples of what the Fund has provided include specially fitted seats for infants and toddlers who lack the muscle tone to sit or heel cups which improve balance for standing and walking in children with low muscle tone or a touch pad switch so a child can activate a toy. It provides essential support to the work our professionals do in Early Intervention to provide the greatest opportunities for our children to develop, grow, learn and thrive.
In the words of Mr. and Mrs. Resnick, "We always felt that Aaron was a gift from God and that his life had a special purpose. After his passing, we wished to memorialize his life. We also wished to thank Meeting Street for their compassion and unwavering efforts for our family. We realized that special/medical devices were often too expensive for many parents, and that insurance will not always pay for what these precious babies and young children need. We knew that our gift, and subsequent gifts by others, would perpetuate Aaron's name best as an endowment fund. The earnings from this fund will pay for these needed devices for generations to come. Thus, The Aaron Michael Resnick Endowment Fund for Early Intervention was created ."
