Sensory Integration Services
What is Sensory Processing Disorder?
Sensory Processing Disorder interferes with how
a child understands information from the world including sound, vision, touch,
movement, and sense of position.
Children are often sensitive to certain noises, over stimulated by
crowded places, dislikes being touched, get motion sickness, or have trouble
wearing certain clothing. Others are
more active, have short attention span, speak loudly, or touch objects/people
frequently. Sensory integration issues
can be stressful for the child and family as everyday activities such as
completing homework, mealtimes, getting dressed, or taking a bath can be
challenging.
Our staff of OTs have training and experience
that help children and their families identify through assessing the sensory
issues that may be causing the difficulties.
Treatment sessions include suggestions to try at home that address areas
of concern.
Often children who have autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, or ADHD also have sensory integration issues, in addition to children who are otherwise typically developing.

Our Sensory Integration Services:
- Use a variety of adaptive equipment, Therapeutic Listening, and physical therapy services if needed, as well as other resources
- Research and coordinate personalized environmental adaptations and sensory activities
- Educate and train family members on techniques to use at home to ensure accurate, consistent, and effective therapy
Our In-Depth Evaluation Identifies Practical Strategies to Use at Home.
We identify any sensory difficulties your child may have and develop an evaluation document with recommendations that parents, doctors and other professionals can easily use to benefit a child. Following the evaluation, we work with you to establish a plan of care designed to meet your child’s therapy goals. This plan of care is reviewed with you periodically to ensure that progress is being made.
