John has served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Meeting Street since 1998 and served as a member of its Board of Trustees from 1990 to 1997. Prior to accepting the position of President at Meeting Street, he was General Counsel for Cornish Associates, L.P., a real estate development company headquartered in Providence. In that role, he also served as the lead staff person for the Coalition for Community Development, a community organization formed to implement the revitalization of downtown Providence. Before joining Cornish Associates in 1995, John was a partner with the law firm of Tillinghast, Collins & Graham in Providence.
John is the former chair of The Highlander Charter School, The Providence Revolving Fund, The Genesis Center and the Providence Zoning Board of Review, the former Vice Chair of the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, and a former member of the Board of Park Commissioners for the City of Providence. He currently serves on the Board of the Rhode Island Public Health Institute and is a member of the Rhode Island Foundation’s Blue Ribbon Commission for RI public schools. A Pittsfield, Massachusetts native, John received his bachelor’s degree in government from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and his law degree from Boston College Law School.

Denise has served as the Chief Business Officer of Meeting Street since 2016, where she oversees finance, billing, human resources, facilities, compliance, governance, and other legal matters in addition to special projects. Previously, she was Senior Vice President Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Secretary at LIN Media LLC, a broadcasting and digital media public company listed on the (NYSE:LIN). At LIN, she directed all legal matters including acquisitions, the novel conversion of a publicly traded company into a publicly-traded LLC and the transformational sale of the company to Media General. Prior to joining LIN, Denise was Senior Corporate Counsel at The Providence Journal Company, a newspaper and broadcasting public company listed on the (NYSE:PRJ); and a corporate associate at Adler Pollock & Sheehan, a business law firm in Providence, Rhode Island.
Denise has been a member of The Rhode Island PBS Foundation Board of Directors since 2018, currently serving as its Secretary and on its Finance Committee and Audit Sub-Committee. She previously served on the Board of Directors of The Hope Academy, a K-8 mayoral academy charter school. Denise received her Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School and her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at Northeastern University. She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Nazik FernandesChief Financial OfficerNazik FernandesChief Financial Officer
Nazik joined Meeting Street in 2018 as its Director of Finance, overseeing the financial operations of the organization’s multiple campuses. Prior, Nazik was a Senior Financial Analyst in SEC Reporting at Citizens Bank from 2015 to 2018 and a Corporate Accounting Manager at LIN Media LLC, a public company listed on the NYSE, from 2010 to 2015. Before working in the private sector, Nazik was a Senior Auditor at KPMG LLC from 2006 to 2010. At KPMG, she provided accounting and auditing services to public and private company clients in various industries including consumer markets, higher education, health care, and other not-for-profits. Nazik is also a member of Progreso Latino’s Board of Directors. Progreso Latino serves Rhode Island’s Latino and immigrant communities.
Nazik immigrated to Cranston, RI at the age of 5 and has lived or worked in Rhode Island ever since. She received both her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and her Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island. Nazik is a licensed CPA and a member of the Rhode Island Society of CPA’s.

Nicole joined Meeting Street as a licensed Occupational Therapist in Meeting Street’s Rhode Island Early Intervention program in 2012. Her exceptional skills have led to a series of promotions, from Clinical Supervisor to Director of Meeting Street’s Massachusetts Early Intervention program to Assistant Director of Early Childhood Programs, and most recently, Director of Early Childhood Programs overseeing 11 programs across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Nicole currently serves as the President of the Massachusetts Early Intervention Consortium (MEIC), is a voting member of the Massachusetts Interagency Coordinating Council and recently stepped down as the President of Taunton Youth Soccer after 6 years. Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts from Worcester State University and is a Certified Early Intervention Specialist.

Daniel FrielDirector of DevelopmentDaniel FrielDirector of Development
Daniel leads the agency’s fundraising and donor engagement programs across Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Previously, Daniel was Director of Development at Bishop Hendricken High School, where he doubled the school’s annual fund within just one year. He has also managed communications for Old Sturbridge Village, Scouting America, and the City of Warwick. Daniel studied at Roger Williams University and CCRI. He is an Eagle Scout and has served on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Central Massachusetts South and The National Camp School for Scouting America.

Margaret joined Meeting Street in 2011 after serving in school district administrations across Rhode Island (RI) for over 15 years. Inclusive education has always been central to Margaret’s career in education. She served as an elementary school principal in North Smithfield, RI, where she later became the Assistant Superintendent focusing on curriculum, instruction and professional development, and in Lincoln, RI, where she was promoted from elementary school principal to Director of Curriculum. Margaret led the transformation of both districts from moderate to high performing during her tenure.
Margaret previously served on the Board of Directors for The Highlander Charter School and the Rhode Island Writing Project at Rhode Island College, where she also taught graduate-level courses for many years. Margaret was named Rhode Island Elementary Principal of the Year and a National Distinguished Principal. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Michael’s College and Master of Education degree from Rhode Island College.

Maureen joined Meeting Street as the Director of Human Resources in 2023 and was promoted to the Director of Human Resources & Administrative Services in 2026. Previously, Maureen was the Director of Human Resources at Horace Mann Educational Associates (HMEA), a non-profit providing services to children and adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities throughout Massachusetts. Prior to moving to New England, Maureen worked extensively in management at various Atlantic City casinos, with her last management position being with Bobby Flay. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Fitchburg University.

Lori SousaDirector of StrategyLori SousaDirector of Strategy
Lori leads the agency’s strategic planning work, focused on growth opportunities and marketing of the storied agency. She joined Meeting Street in 2017 as the Grants and Corporate Relations Officer and later served as Director of Development. Prior to Meeting Street, Lori served as the Vice President of Marketing and Development for New Hope, Inc., a domestic and sexual violence prevention nonprofit, upon returning to her native Massachusetts following Peace Corps service in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Before moving overseas, Lori served as the Director of Business Development for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in Washington, D.C. where she launched the national organization’s corporate partnership program, a role she also played at the American Film Institute (AFI) in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Lori holds a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University – where she is a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame – and a Master of Arts (Radio-Television-Film) from The University of Texas at Austin.
