What is Healthy Families America?

An evidence-based, home visiting program that pairs expectant mothers, or families with newborns younger than two weeks old, with a Family Support Worker to assist families on their pathway to self-sufficiency.

Program Goals

  • Build and maintain partnerships to engage families in a variety of settings, including in their homes, in the community and virtually
  • Promote and strengthen positive parent-child relationships
  • Promote positive growth and development in children
  • Build family strengths through the promotion of protective factors

How We Assist Future Mothers

  • Identify the needs of the family
  • Provide the support needed to achieve personal goals
  • Support the development of positive attitudes toward motherhood
  • Increase knowledge of their child's development
  • Improve family health

How You Can Help Future Mothers

Anyone may refer a pregnant woman or family with a newborn to Healthy Families America. Referrals are taken from:

  • Healthcare and Social Service Providers, including WIC, (if they think an expectant mother would benefit from home visiting)
  • Schools
  • Families (self-referrals or family member referrals)
